Kids Fashion Heading Into 2011
Although some celebrities have been criticized for dressing their children in designer clothes over the past year, the trends have been set, as more and more children are stepping out in fashionable style. After all, why should every kid have to look exactly the same dressed, in look-alike cookie cutter, mall styles? Most children appreciate being dressed in comfortable, stylish clothing and their mothers appreciate longer lasting clothing that looks as great as it wears.
One of the greatest things about being a mother, is the ability to dress your child in clothing and outfits that enhance their sparkling personality and charm, so why settle for anything less? Children and parents alike will feel much better and more confident with clothes that they are crazy about and the great thing is that designer clothing is generally much longer wearing and better quality, making for a much better value.
So, what to expect in 2011 for the design conscious parent and child? First of all, designers and kids boutiques for 2011 are focusing on making comfortable and appropriate styles for toddlers and preteens. For example many designers such as The Tea Collection are looking to other cultures for inspiration. The Tea collection has a great looking line of kids clothing based on Old World Hungary, which emphasizes comfort, as well as great looks. Other designers have used kids styles in Japan and Korea as their inspiration for their children’s product lines. Designer kids clothing in 2011 will follow the themes of practicality, as well as luxury and style. The buzzword is “practical luxury.”
As with adult fashion, a major theme in children’s boutique clothing in 2011, will be a continuation of eco-conciousness. Emphasis will be on clothing made from sustainable materials such as organic cotton and bamboo. Frivolous is out in 2011, while the environment is in.
Another trend in teen and pre-teen clothing, is likely to be the 80′s retro look, although without the leather and sexualized look of 80s rock. There will likely be many of the popular mismatched styles of the 80s to look forward to (or not). Girls dresses will continue to follow a trend of flowing fabrics, although the use of velvet in children’s clothes is unlikely in 2011.
Of course predictions and trends may change due to unforeseen events, but these trends seem highly probable as we enter the last half of 2010.
